INFORMATION STATEMENT: towards the Global Action EL SUR RESISTE on October 12, 2023
More than two thousand years ago, the war between empires for the acquisition of land, natural resources, and geostrategic trade sites, was based on the conquest of territories and the creation of borders. This was always done at the expense of the destruction of cultures and the blood of indigenous peoples.
El día 7 de la Caravana El Sur Resiste comienza con un ritual entre todas las personas que la integran; mujeres e infancias, jóvenes e infancias; personas de la tercera edad; muchos vienen de otros estados de la República y también de otros países, pero en esta caravana hemos caminado juntxs con el fin de escuchar el dolor de los Pueblos Originarios y también dar voz a su resistencia.
On the 8th of the Caravan the South Resists arrived in the city of Felipe Carillo Puerto where we marched through the streets of the city making visible the problems caused by the Mayan Train project.
After the march, we leave for Xpujil, Campeche, however, we stop at the stop on the cruise to Laguna Ocom.
The Caravan “El Sur Resiste,” arrived at its last stop, Palenque, Chiapas before beginning the “El Sur Resiste 2023 International Gathering” which will take place on May 6 and 7 at the Caracol Jacinto Canek. In Palenque, we held a march and a rally to claim discrimination, criminalization, and the imposition of megaprojects against the Original Peoples in Chiapas.
En el 4to día de la caravana El Sur Resiste, nos dirigimos a la comunidad de Oteapan en Veracruz, esta carretera hace un trazo similar a la que pretende hacer el Tren Interoceánico, a los pueblos de Veracruz y Oaxaca los ha unido esta lucha contra uno de los proyectos más depredadores y destructivos de la 4T.
On day 6 of the Caravan El Sur Resiste, we arrived at the town of Candelaria, Campeche, one of the communities where the Tren Maya will pass and have a station; and where the construction of the new roads are already underway.
This is what the main streets looked like, red steel beams covering almost the entire street while the houses in the municipality look small next to the monstrous project of death.

STATEMENT
The organizations that make up the FRONT OF OAXACAN ORGANIZATIONS – FORUM (FRENTE DE ORGANIZACIONES OAXAQUEÑAS – FORO), strongly condemn and repudiate the recent acts of brutal police repression ordered by the illegitimate Governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, against residents of the indigenous community of Santiago Xiacuí and indigenous Triqui women, displaced from San Juan Copala.
Si en estos momentos nos remontamos al siglo XVI, época en que Carlos V le encomienda a sus exploradores (colonizadores) encontrar el mejor paso entre el Atlántico y el Pacífico. Ubicaremos él —quizá— primer momento, en esta larga historia, de interés —para los conquistadores— por construir un paso interoceánico que atravesará el Istmo de Tehuantepec y en ese sentido poder unir ambos océanos. Con esta mirada a un pasado lejano, podemos percatarnos en que la necesidad de abrir rutas de acceso sea atravesando el cuerpo entero de países o continentes, es una constante en esta larga historia llamada colonialismo.

La Caravana El Sur Resiste llegó en la noche a un cálido recibimiento por parte de aquella iglesia que acompaña los proceso organizativos de lucha con los de abajo, la iglesia de la parroquia de San Jose, la cual doto a los compañeros de un espacio para pernoctar alimentos y pozol. En la mañana la Caravana se traslado al centro de Villahermosa, para realizar en encuentro político cultural con las organizaciones locales.
